Moses Mendelssohn Centre for European Jewish Studies (MMZ)

The research centre was founded in 1992 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Wannsee Conference and is named after the Jewish Enlightenment philosopher Moses Mendelssohn (1729-1786). The institute pursues interdisciplinary approach and conducts fundamental research in the fields of history, philosophy, religion, and social sciences. The University of Potsdam as well as some research institutes in the United States and Israel are close partners of the institute and share research and curricula. The specialized library, open to the public, currently holds 60.000 volumes, including 4.000 Hebraica, and several valuable special collections.
